Training

From Foundational to Fine Tuning
From Young Horses...
At Holleger Dressage, our training philosophy centers around developing horses from unstarted prospects to high-performance Grand Prix athletes. We believe the foundation is everything, and our approach prioritizes the horse’s well-being and understanding at every stage.
Starting with groundwork, we teach horses the basics: yielding to pressure, using their bodies correctly, and building strength methodically. Our first rides are harmonious, tailored to each individual horse, and always focused on setting them up for success.
...to FEI Levels
Our training program emphasizes forward thinking, softness in the bridle, freedom in the body, and the connection between the hind legs and the bit, driving the back and withers upward. Incorporating natural horsemanship, long lining, and trail riding, we ensure each horse learns to move confidently and trust the rider. With access to beautiful hills, trails, and off-site experiences, our horses receive exposure to everything needed for a well-rounded foundation.
With a proven record of training horses from unstarted to FEI and Grand Prix, we know how important it is to begin with the end in mind.
The foundation we build at Holleger Dressage is designed to set horses up for a successful career in performance, starting from their very first steps.

Lindsey Holleger started working my two boy horses, a Hanoverian Diamond Hit and an Oldenburg Royal Hit, back in 2015. Lindsey seamlessly transitioned her training philosophy to what I had been doing and their current ability. She never took away from the work I had already done, she just added ingredients (forward, forward, forward) to my changes, Piaffe and passage. Her ability to adjust and finesse from the horse as well as instill confidence without drama for the horse was so refreshing. With an ability to get directly to the training needs there is a steady progressive achievement of training making the horse enjoy their work. This is key for having a long-term relationship with our four-legged children which meant the world to me. I currently take lessons on my Lusitano gelding working diligently towards the upper levels.
I highly recommend Lindsey whether it be a young horse/youth rider or a seasoned competitor/FEI level horse looking to establish solid skills with an eye on Grand Prix.
